Visit Vermilion Point in Michigan's scenic Upper Peninsula

If you would like to visit Vermilion, take M-123 to Paradise, Michigan. At the light in Paradise, go north on Whitefish Point Road, toward the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum. Vermilion Road is a gravel and sand road, about five miles from the light. Four-wheel drive is recommended. Vermilion Rd. goes off on your left to the north-west. You will see a sign that says, "State Forest Campground." Go past the Andrus Lake State Forest Campground and continue on to the Y in the road, about one mile from Whitefish Point Rd.  Keep right and continue north-west about six and a half miles. There are logging roads that go off on both sides, but stay on the "main" road. You will see a Little Traverse Conservancy sign. Continue on to the parking lot. Walk across the bridge and you will quickly come to the buildings. You can access the beach by the trail near the buildings. While you are at Vermilion, please look at the life-saving station and think about the men who were willing to risk their lives in order to save others.
